Baptiste de La Gournerie is the co-founder of Utopia: a sea named plastic (original name: Utopia: une mer nommée plastique). The French NGO aims at understanding societies’ dependence on plastic materials and the environmental, social, political, and economic impacts related to that dependence. Their mission is to bring more transparency and a better understanding of plastic issues.
Baptiste de La Gournerie has always wanted to understand the functioning of the economy to identify efficient leverages to make the world more sustainable. He took the opportunity of his business school gap year to develop the project UTOPIA: a sea named plastic. His willingness to understand Society’s dependence on plastic and the impact on the environment, biodiversity, and human health is at the heart of the project.
