Erick Weje
Erick Weje was brought up in Nairobi, Kenya. He is currently living and working in Malindi. He is a clinician by profession and is both a Rotarian and a Rotaractor.
Erick understands the importance of mangrove restoration and has been passionately working on the project since starting his role as President of Rotaract Malindi in 2017. Rotaract Malindi has 20 members actively participating in club activities. The club conducts annual mangrove planting sessions, aiming to increase the forest cover of mangroves in the coastal regions.
By addressing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #6 Water and Sanitation, Rotaract Malindi is educating the community about the importance of mangrove planting.
Erick’s vision is to increase mangrove forest cover in the coast, enhance education in the community to avoid deforestation, and promote mangrove restoration to create breeding sites for species and fight climate change.
