Michele Barbier

Dr. Michele Barbier is the founder and executive director of the Institute for Science and Ethics in France which tackles Ocean Ethics. She obtained a PhD at the University Pierre and Marie Curie followed by post-doctoral fellowships at the Institute Malardé/Institute Pasteur and at NOAA. She is the author of the CIESM Charter on access and Benefits Sharing related to marine resources and the European guidelines for the sustainable development of seaweed aquaculture (PEGASUS) and has a long experience in setting dialogue with Policymakers and various stakeholders (European Parliament). Michele Barbier is also Ethics Expert for the European Commission and IAPG France Coordinator – International Association for Promoting GeoEthics. 

She said, “Be responsible, adopt an ethical behaviour” because we need to protect the future generation and the environment.
