Stella Diamant

Stella Diamant is the founder and lead researcher of the Madagascar Whale Shark Project (MSWP). Stella has always been passionate about nature and worked on a range of species before specialising in whale sharks. She studied biology at the University of Warwick (UK), focusing on the effects of plastic pollution on marine environments. In 2016, she completed an MSc in Biology at the Imperial College of London.

She is driven by the motivation to create impact, pioneer science, improve livelihoods, and safeguard wildlife. At the age of 21, Stella Diamant visited Madagascar and witnessed first-hand the delicate balance between rural fishing communities and marine resources. This fuelled her commitment to work in Madagascar in the future and to train as a conservation biologist. MSWP’s work has been covered by global media outlets such as BBC Blue Planet and national TV in France, Belgium, and Madagascar.
